     The family tree of the Welfs in the Historia Welforum uniformly depicts the wife to the left of the husband.
But here Kunigunde, who carried on the Welf line through her son Welf IV. (d. ca. 1101), is, as representative of the Welf House, shown to the right of her husband Azzo II. of Este.
